Empowering Hood County Students to Achieve Their Dreams

Supporting academic growth through dedicated scholarship opportunities.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

The vision of the American Dream Fund comes from the Declaration of Independence which declares that we are all created equal and that we have an inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.

The American Dream promises freedom and equality. It offers the opportunity to make both the large and small decisions that affect one’s life, the liberty to strive for bigger and better things and the possibility of achieving them, the freedom to accumulate wealth, the opportunity to lead a dignified life, and the ability to live in accordance with one’s values—even if those values are not widely held or accepted.

Our nonprofit raises funds for Hood County students who demonstrate these same values in order to help them pursue their own American Dream, whether it be through a college degree (the Joyce Carver Memorial Scholarship) or certification in a trade (CTE Scholarship yet to be named). Students applying for our scholarships are required to give short answers to 4 questions about their views on civil rights, equality, compassion, and leadership qualities.
